Waters family and staff welcome you and your friends to visit and learn why so many people return again and again to find great buys on quality home fashions. We are very serious about providing the best service and advice to you when making those important selections for your home; this level of service and our long heritage of caring is at the core of our family owned furniture business...
In 1934, Loy A. Waters and Ruth Coleman Waters opened a small furniture store in Graymont, Georgia (now Twin City). The country was in the midst of the depression and times were tough, but the business earned a living for the Waters family. In order to expand the business, Waters added employees and began sending trucks to various areas around Emanuel, Jenkins, and Bulloch counties to sell furniture. Waters was the first businessman in South Georgia to allow customers to buy furniture by making installment payments, and thus allowing people to purchase who could have never been able to afford the furnishings they needed. World War II brought new challenges to the business when gas rationing and tire shortages forced dramatic cutbacks in travel and in Waters' ability to accommodate customers with route sales. Thus, in response, the small furniture operation moved the business to its most prosperous route - Statesboro.
Today, the second and third generation of Waters family - Loy A. (Si) Waters Jr. and Anthony Waters, actively run the business with a great staff of associates dedicated to providing great values in home furnishings for thousands of new and repeat customers.
Currently there are two L. A. Waters locations in Statesboro - L. A. Waters Furniture Center on West Main Street in historic Downtown Statesboro, and L. A. Waters Furniture Showcase on Brannen Street across from the Statesboro Mall. In addition, L. A. Waters Furniture Company owns a furniture, electronics and appliance rental business, "Rentown", which operates stores in Statesboro, Claxton, Vidalia, Swainsboro, Eastman, Baxley, Jesup, and Waynesboro, Georgia. In addition L. A. Waters is a majority owner in a newly launched division, Lawson's New World Home Furnishings, LLLP, which added stores in Statesboro, plus Aiken and Orangeburg, South Carolina. Each division and company is merchandised to allow our patrons the best selection of home furnishings in this area!
